This Bronze was produced by Gussv. Pirner & Franz Dresden = Lobtau. Royal Army Medical Corps TF. Qualifying as a Doctor of Medicine in 1899 he was commissioned in October 1914 and proceeded to France in February 1917. Severely injured in May 1917 when he was crushed by a lorry overturning, he returned to France in October 1917 and served with 255 Tunneling Company. Awarded the MC in 1918 he later served in North Russia, Egypt and Turkey. He died in Weston Super Mare, Somerset in 1952 aged 81 years.

It is assumed as his M.M. was in Gazette 1st Sept 1916 that the award was for mining operation at the start of the Somme offensive 1st July 1916.

He was born in Auckland on the 8th March 1882 and his Occupation was a Miner.
His father came from Galway Ireland and his Mother was a New Zealander.
He Embarked for France on the 22nd June 1917 and was encamped at Etaples.
The New Zealand Tunnellers were involved in operations mostly in and around Arras.

Private Edwin.T.Dibden born, enlisted and lived in Southampton.
He was in the 5th Battalion Duke Of Edinburghs (Wiltshire Regiment). Died Mesopotamia 29th July 1916. Trench art Model of a WW1 French Renault Tank , made as souvenirs after the war they double up as an inkwell when you lift up the turret n.b glass liner missing on this one.
