1914 BEF French Banknote This is an August 1914 dated, French banknote. It has been left folded in a wallet for a very long time. It is clearly is a fragile condition. I have little doubt, that this note was kept as a lucky keepsake by a vet, as he survived the trenches. Over 100 years later, Online today, I do believe, this small slice of history is most worthy of a good home !
1917 Times Newspaper For anyone interested in the First World War, this edition of \'The Times\' newspaper certainly has a lot to offer ! The newspaper is complete with all 12 sides. It is December 26th 1917 dated. It is full of news from all fronts, adverts, International news and news from the Empire and the Home Front. It is in pristine condition, as shown and a treasure trove of information. The history contained in a single edition is simply staggering !

1917 Humorous Postcard This is a humorous postcard from 1917. It was franked at 8.30 AM on July 16th 1917. It is in good condition, as shown and a typical example, of wartime humour.
1919 RAF 50 Fighter Squadron Letter This letter was sent by a Captain in 50 squadron on July 9th 1919. It measures 19 by 25 cm and is addressed to someone, in the Birmingham area. 50 Squadron was stationed in the Kent area and were a fighter squadron. From October 1918, 50 Squadron were flying Sopwith Camels, as night fighters, for the Home Defence. The squadron was actually disbanded in June 1919 and it\'s last CO, was Arthur Harris ! It is a small slice of very early, RAF History, that is very worthy of a good home !

1939-45 War Diary This is a 1995 dated, hardback publication, produced by Marshall Cavandish books. It gives an overview into most of the theatres of conflict. The book is visually impressive, with a massive range of colour and black and white photos. It is in pristine condition, with just some marks, to the back cover, as clearly shown. It measures 23 by 29 cm.
1940 Post Office Savings Book This is a rarely encountered item of Home Front paperwork. The Post Office book is named to a Miss D McCartney ! She banked at the Hammersmith branch in London. It is a fascinating item of Home Front History, as these books were , understandably, destroyed by families. This book\'s first deposit was made on September 20th 1940, at the height of \'The Blitz. The deposits continued throughout the war and right up to 1972, when the account was finally closed. The book is complete with all of it\'s pages and is completely untouched. It measures 10 by 16 cm.

It is very large, measuring 160 cm by 120 cm. it is a well used example and has a few minor rips, at the folds, as shown. It is 1941 dated and was printed in Berlin, as shown, at the bottom left hand corner. It folds neatly into it\'s different sections, as clearly shown. The map has been left folded incorrectly, and will reduce down to a smaller size, after some careful folding. It is a remarkable item and would look stunning, if framed. UK Sales ONLY.

50th Anniversary of D-Day Times Newspaper This is a 1994, 50th anniversary D- Day newspaper, produced by \'The Times\' newspaper. It is broadsheet size and it runs to 12 sides ! The Times reproduced here their original paper from June 6th 1944 and have added modern photo montages of D Day photos. It is a well produced publication. Apart from the folds to the paper, it is in pristine condition.

A German Soldier\'s View of The Eastern Front This is a small set of 5, wartime period photos, taken by a soldier in the Wehrmacht. What people choose to point their cameras at, is always interesting. Each photo captures an impression of war : a knocked out Soviet tank, a deserted farm, a bombed Soviet town, a captured grand house, a motorised column. Each photo measures 9.5 by 7 cm and were taken by the same soldier, as his annotations on the reverse show. The humble, little set, are one soldier\'s view of war.
Adkin\'s Nut Brown Tobacco Calendar This is a wartime period calendar, produced for Adkin\'s Nut Brown Tobacco. It is small sized, measuring 23 by 27 cm and is printed on cardboard. It features the Battleship King George V, which served throughout the war. The calendar has clearly been framed in the Post War period, as shown, on the reverse. It is not a common item to encounter, from the Home Front and is an opportunity, not to be missed !
Afrikakorps Magazine Feature This a June 1941 edition of \'Parade, Middle East Weekly\'. The magazine has a very early campaign feature, on the first encounters, with DAK forces in Libya.

The photo surfaced in a small group of DAK officer photos, all taken in Tunisia. There is one of these photos, advertised further down on this page, which is from the same grouping. The handwriting on both photos is identical, as clearly shown. The photo is small, measuring 8 by 5.5 cm.

The book is well illustrated throughout and measures 15 by 21 cm.

The book gives a brief, pictorial guide to the evolution of German tanks, during both world wars. Of particular interest are the early photos, of Bovington\'s Tiger I. The book measures 15 by 25 cm and is illustrated throughout with a large array of photos. It is in good condition.

Boxed RAF Binoculars These are a well used, wartime pair. The leather case strap has been repaired recently, with masking tape, as shown. The pair are otherwise, completely untouched. The optics on the binos are clear. The lens pieces are in good, working order, with no chips or damage. The leather strap, is in good, supple condition. The initials 'D.C' have been overpainted, on the underside of the pair, as shown. The leather box comes complete with a wartime, paper label, as shown. All of the components, on the box are present. Apart from the damage to the top section of the carrying case, this pair are a good, untouched pair.

Britain\'s Home Guard This is a 1945 dated, hardback publication, written by John Brophy. The book presented a visual tribute to the Home Guard, after the \'Stand Down\' in December 1944. The book was published early in 1945, as the annotated inscription, at the front shows. Apart from some discolouration, to the cover, it is in very good condition. Brophy\'s book is seldom encountered and this is an opportunity, not to be missed.

It is well illustrated throughout, with a huge array of photos. The book is small sized, but it is well set out and in very good condition. It is rarely encountered and one, not to miss !

British Army Iraq Newspaper This is a January 18th 1945 dated, British Army Newspaper, for troops in Iraq. It is small sized, measuring 39 by 25 cm. The vet had left this newspaper folded up, as clearly shown. It is 4 sided and salty with rips and folds. Despite all these faults, it remains an interesting perspective on what British troops were reading, at this stage of the war.

It gives an in depth look at all the model manufacturers, past and present. It is particularly well illustrated, with a huge array of model kits and a highly impressive publication. The book is in pristine condition and a must for any model maker !
Coastal Artillery Kriegsmarine Ranks Poster This is a modern poster, showing the ranks of the Coastal Artillery Kriegsmarine service. It does have drawing pins holes, at each corner, some very minor marks and one pen mark, on the reverse. It is otherwise in very good condition and an impressive poster, measuring 45 by 30cm. It is an invaluable reference guide.
Commando Magazine Feature This is a March 1942 dated edition of \'Picture Post\' magazine. It has a 4 page photo feature on a Commando training exercise. Unfortunately, the magazine has suffered rust damage to many of the pages. It is otherwise in good condition.

Corps of Commissionares Arm Badge This is a tunic removed example, which most clearly, shows considerable wear. It\'s previous collector has attached a typed description, on the rear. It is an impressive example.
Coventry Civil Defence Area Title This is a good, Post war example. It is in good condition, as shown.
Crashed Heinkel III Photo This is a most interesting, wartime example. The photo shows a Heinkel III, which has crash landed, most likely during \' The Blitz\' period in 1940/41. It has been cut down in size, at some point. The photo is a good size, measuring 29 by 14 cm. It is printed on thick, wartime card. It\'s previous owner ( a Secondary aged pupil, no doubt ) has glued a modern photocopy of a Messerschmitt, on the reverse, as shown. The backing of the photo, reveals, that this photo originally, was framed, as clearly shown. Of particular interest, is at the front of the nose cockpit. All of the plane\'s parachutes and ammo drums, are been piled up. Despite it\'s faults, it still remains a most, captivating image.

Defeat of Afrikakorps Newspaper This is a May 10th 1943 dated edition of \'The Union Jack\', forces newspaper. This 4 sided paper does appear to have belonged to a vet from the Derbyshire Yeomanry. He has added comments on the back page, about the Derbyshire Yeomanry being the first Allied unit, to enter Tunis. The paper is salty, but a great piece of history.
Despatch Rider Picture Post Feature This is a October 1943 dated edition of \'Picture Post\' magazine. It has a rare front cover feature, of a Canadian Army despatch rider. Sadly, there is no photo feature inside, on despatch riders. The magazine is quite salty and is priced accordingly.
Devonshire Regiment Plastic Cap Badge This is an issued example, which is clearly showing it\'s age. It has lost both of it\'s sliders, as shown. However, it has sharp definition, clearly maker stamped and still retains it\'s shape. It is priced accordingly.

It presents a simply huge range of information, on a vast array of different areas of the Third Reich period. It is well illustrated with photos throughout. It has been well used and has a slightly salty cover, but otherwise is in very good condition. It is a most helpful, reference tool for research.
Escape To Danger This is a 1949 dated, third impression printing, of Paul Brickhill\'s account of the mass breakout from Stalag Luft III. The book inspired the 1963 movie\' The Great Escape\'. It is complete with it\'s original dust jacket, as shown. It is well illustrated with full page drawings, from the camp and is in pristine condition.

It is in very good condition and a visual treat !

It appears to be like a French version of Purnells History of the Second World War, but 20 years earlier ! The magazine still has inside, it\'s newsagent subscription order notes. The photo quality in this magazine is very disappointing. There are plenty of wartime photos, but the printing is very poor. Despite this fault, the magazine is still, an impressive publication, in it\'s size and content. It is in pristine condition.

Of particular interest , are the 2 photos of the BBC\'s own HG units. These were stationed at the broadcasting house and other BBC stations. Each one is reported to have had it\'s own Home Guard unit, stationed there. The magazine does have some rust bleeding to the staples, with the centre page being loose. It is otherwise, in very good condition.

It has an unusual, comic feature on an exhibition of humorous, Home Guard paintings that were put on exhibition. The article runs to 2 pages and is a most interesting HG feature. In addition, there is a rare photo of Field Marshall Montgomery at Wembly, pictured with the King. The magazine is in very good condition.

Jersey D-Day German Poster This is an opportunity, not to be missed ! These posters were produced by the Germans Forces, in Jersey, after the D-Day landings, in France on June 6th 1944. This example is very salty, with several rips, as clearly shown. Despite it's faults, it still remains an exceedingly rare item, to encounter. It measures 20 by 30 cm.

Kriegsmarine Leave Pass This is an August 31st 1944 dated, leave pass for a member of the Kriegsmarine It is named to a Hermann Leinweber. His pass was valid for 3 days and he reported back in on September 2nd. Leinweber appears to have taken his leave in Berlin, as the reverse stamp shows.

Lilliput Magazine This is a September 1940 dated edition of 'Lilliput' magazine. This particular edition is rarely encountered. Despite being small, measuring just 14 by 20 cm, these magazines were the cutting edge in journalism. It has some minor fraying, to the top cover, as shown, but otherwise is in near mint condition. It has the perfect balance of thought provoking articles, cartoons, pin up nudes and humorous photo comparisons. It is nothing short of a masterpiece of understatement, at the nation's finest hour.

London German Spy Photo This seemingly innocent photo of \'Big Ben\', has a sinister, history behind it, as it was taken by a German spy, in the 1938/39 period. The photo grouping advertised here is brand new to the market. The photos were taken by a German spy, who photographed extensively, key traffic locations in the central London vicinity. These photos were later used by Luftwaffe intelligence, on the outbreak of the war. The photos aren\'t in the best of condition, but groupings like this are very rarely encountered. London Household Cavalry Pennat This is a well used, period example. It is a good size, measuring 50 by 17 cm. It is in good condition, as shown, with no moth damage.
London Wartime Shop License This is an application for a shop license, to trade in the Wandsworth District in London. It was approved on October 9th 1939. The licence is 2 sided and measures 22 by 19 cm. It is not a common, Home Front item to encounter.
Lord Gort Commander of the BEF Photo This is an early war example, taken by \'The Daily Mail\'. The photo is Press stamped, on the bottom, right hand corner and on the reverse. Lord Gort was the commander of the BEF in France in 1939-40. The photo shows him at a wedding celebration, of a junior officer. There are 2 ATS officers in the photo, as well as a policeman. The definition, in this photo is exceptional.

The photo was clearly taken on The Eastern Front and shows 2 Russians, looking at a Focke Wulf 189. These planes were nicknamed, \'The flying eye\' and were used extensively on The Eastern Front. It still remains an impressive image and is priced here accordingly.

Naval Poster This is a large, wartime, Home Front poster. What is most unusual about it, is that it was hand painted, a Christmas message to the Royal Navy, from Juniper Green Food Supply Company. This firm was clearly a supplier to The Royal Navy, during the war. Juniper Green today is a village, north of Edinburgh in Scotland. It measures 76 by 52 cm and rolls up neatly as shown. It does have a few rips, at the bottom, but otherwise is otherwise in good condition. The poster appears to have have been left rolled, for a considerable time. North Africa Officer\'s Photo Grouping This is a small set of 12 photos, taken out in North Africa, by a South African officer. There are 2 additional photos, taken in South Africa. The photos are all taken in the early phase of the conflict, probably in 1941. The photo size is decent, with each one measuring 9 by 6 cm. There is a very clear social divide, in the photos. The officers are pictured together, well away from the NCO\'s and the other ranks. Of particular interest, is the one photo, of the South African generals and in other, one officer has a painted camo finish, on his hessian, steel helmet cover. It is an interesting grouping, which is modestly priced.

It gives a detailed account of all men serving in the Forces, from the North Staffordshire area, who were killed in the war. The photo quality is disappointing, in this book, but the service histories of the men, are well researched, making this a most interesting read.

Nurse\'s Framed Portrait This example is new to the market. The photo is annotated on the reverse, as it was sent to the nurse\'s parents during Christmas 1947. It is not clear however, when and where the photo was actually taken ? It comes in it\'s original frame and a well executed, colourised portrait.
Officer and Motor Car Photo This is a good First World War period example. It shows an Army officer, standing by his car. The photo has some damage, with a crease, on the left hand corner. It doesn\'t distract from how good this photo is. It measures 8 by 6 cm.

These magazines are seldom seen, as few seemed to have been brought back, by the troops. It is large format size and is full of rare photos, from The Western Desert. The front cover of the tanker is an impressive image, to say the least.

Polish Vet\'s Language Course Booklets This is a set of 6, language course booklets, that surfaced from the estate of a Polish, wartime vet. His name is written on each booklet. Each one measures 13 by 20 and is complete. In addition, there is a letter to the Polish Embassy in 1994 in London.

Prince of Wales\'s O Y Regiment Home Guard Photo This is a good, wartime example. It shows a small group of Home Guard personnel. The ill fitting BDs are clearly shown here. The photo is postcard size and has been researched and annotated on the reverse, by it\'s previous collector.

Propaganda Poster This is a MODERN poster print, of the famous, Third Reich propaganda poster. It is large, measuring 59 by 42 cm. The sharpness of detail, is exceptional as shown. It is printed on high grade paper and is in pristine condition.
QM Brevet This is a good, Post war example. It is a padded brevet and is in very good condition, as shown.
RAC Button This is an issued example, for the RAC. It measures 2.5 by 2.5 cm. It has one rust fleck, to one side, but otherwise, is in good, untouched condition.
RAC Cap Badge This is an issued example, which clearly, has never been cleaned. It is in good, untouched condition.
RAC Paper Grouping This is a small grouping of documents and Germany book, that belonged to a Gordon Pinkham, who served with the RAC in the war. The Germany book for troops, is November 1944 dated, as shown. Included is Pinkham\'s RAC discharge certificate, from December 1946. Also included is his 1951 RAC Reservists recall letter, as shown. Included in this grouping is Pinkham\'s passport from 1969 and a series of modern membership cards, as shown. It is a poignant grouping, to a trooper who served his country well.

RAC Picture Post Feature This is an October 1941 dated edition of \'Picture Post\' magazine. Its\' front cover features a rare photo of RAC driver in his tank. Ironically, the magazine features German armoured units in action on The Eastern Front, rather than any feature on the RAC. The magazine has some rust bleeding to the staples, but it is not excessive. This edition\'s front cover, is an image, seldom encountered.
RAC Studio Photo This is a good, wartime example. The photo has been reframed very recently, by it\'s previous collector. I have since removed the wartime photo, from this modern frame, as shown. The photo comes complete, with it\'s original, tracing paper border, as shown. The cardboard measures 28 by 20 cm. The clarity of the image is exceptional, as shown.

RAF Air - Crew Training Manual This is an April 1943 dated example. It is large format size, measuring 23 by 30 cm. The vet\'s name is written, at the front of the manual. It is still sealed, at the front, with it\'s original, manual strings. Each section in the folder is April 1943 dated. There are no Post war additions. The Engines section chapter has suffered a 7 cm tear, across this section, as clearly shown. Some of the manuals sections, are illustrated with photos. In total, there are 6 sections in this manual, which are : Air Navigation, Engines, Meteorology, Principles of flight and Hygiene. The other course notes, which are in the introduction, are NOT, present in this vet\'s folder.

RAF Typhoon Fighter/ Bomber Pilot Feature This is an August 1944 dated edition of \'Picture Post\'. The magazine features a rare front page cover photo, of a RAF pilot. It has a 2 page photo feature inside, on a tank crew in action in Normandy. There is one small tear to one of the pages, the magazine is otherwise in very good condition.
RAF Bomber Aircrew Photo and Tankard This is a 1944 dated set. The tankard and photo surfaced together and are new to the market. The tankard is named to a Flight Lt, R.S Robinson and is 1944 dated. Robinson, is pictured, in the centre of with the aircrew of 7. The picture comes in it's original, cardboard frame and the photo measures 16 by 10 cm. The set are both in good condition, as clearly shown and are completely untouched.

RAF Framed Portrait This is an undated, RAF portrait. It is new to the market, having surfaced with the advertised photo of the nurse. Both photos surfaced together and were husband and wife. They are sale here individually, or are can be purchased as a pair. The photo is a well executed, close up.
RAF Map of The Eastern Counties This is an RAF issue, map of the Eastern Counties area. It is not dated, but is titled at the top, as \'RAF War Edition\'. It clearly is a well used example. There are inked areas, indicating danger zones for aircraft. In addition there are vertical lines drawn, as shown. The map does have a lot of foxing on the reverse. It measures 78 by 62 cm and certainly is one that has seen a lot of use !

Super Fortress Photo Set This is small group of 5 photos, taken at John Goose Air Base in Canada. All of the photos were taken in January 1949, as each photo is embossed on the front, as shown. The RAF were clearly using the base, as the vet managed to take photos of a range of aircraft there. He annotated the photos as being taken in 1951 as shown. They are all a decent size, measuring 12 by 8 cm. They are album removed, as clearly shown.

The book is in immaculate condition and a must for collectors, interested in the Luftwaffe.

The Great War Magazine This is a July 1915 dated magazine publication called \'The Great War\'. Published on a large format size it is large, measuring 25 by 34cm. These First World War magazines really were a particularly well produced publication. Printed on high grade paper, gave the photos, an exceptional quality for the period. Now, over 100 years old, these magazines certainly do not look their age, when comparted to \'Picture Post\' magazines, produced in the 1940\'s ! They are particularly well written and well worth the time and money, in my opinion. This edition comes complete with it\'s poster of the Queen of Belgium.

Printed on high grade paper, gave this publication outstanding photo quality, as clearly shown here. The magazine has lost it\'s original front cover, it is otherwise in very good condition. The range of photos in this publication is very large and it is a highly impressive magazine, for the period.

Third Reich Rations Drop Cardboard Box This is an unusual item of Third Reich ephemera to encounter. These ration boxes were dropped to front line German troops, on different fronts. The caption on the front translates \' A small thanks from the Fuhrer, to his troops\'. The box is clearly an issued example, judging from it\'s condition. It is small sized, measuring 18 by 12 by 5 cm. I have had this box verified, by leading collectors and it is a 100 % original, Third Reich example.

Third Reich Polish Worker Permits These are 2, Third Reich documents, issued to a Robert Lehman, who was a Polish worker, who was engaged in some work, relating to the German war effort. There is a very salty, Polish passport, which shows that Lehman, who was born in 1899, was engaged in work, for the Germans, from 1940 onwards. The letter is April 1943 dated and instructed Lehman, which worker\'s pay grouping , he was assigned to. The work documents are clearly heavily used and are on sale here, as found.

It measures only 13 by 21 cm, but, it remains a very impressive publication, well ahead of it\'s time.

The portrait is clearly, no masterpiece, but it is a good, honest, wartime example, not commonly encountered.

Two Tommies in Paris This is one of the more iconic, front page covers , produced by \'Picture Post\' in 1940. The lead feature shows 2 soldiers on leave in Paris. The article reminded readers of the close political bond, between Britain and France. The magazine has some rust bleeding to the staples, but it is not excessive. The front cover has come loose from the main body of the magazine. It is otherwise, in very good condition. The original, household\'s pencil address, is still clearly visible, on the front cover !

US Airborne Parachute Sewing Operative\'s Manual This is a 1948 dated, US Airborne Issue manual, designed specifically, for parachute Sewing operatives. It gives a complete, photographic guide for Singer machine operatives, regarding how to use their machines for the sewing of Airborne parachutes. It is large format size, measuring 15 by 23 cm and a well used example. It has 2 large brass pins, which are period additions. Inside, the manual, has had lots of cellotaped ammendments to using to manual, added to the pages. Most of these have fallen out and just one example remains inside, still attached to it\'s original cellotape. It terms of photo content, this manual, is nothing short of comprehensive, in it\'s complete coverage of every working component of the Singer sewing machine. It is in good, untouched condition, as clearly shown.

Putting these faults aside, this remains an honest example that records the excitement of this tremendous day, in the nation\'s History.

Victoria Cross Publication This is a November 1916 dated, magazine publication, produced by \'The Times\' magazine. It gives a comprehensive account of all of the VCs awarded to servicemen, during the first, 2 years of the war. The magazine is quite grubby, on the front. There is some very minor rust bleeding to the staples. These faults aside, the magazine is otherwise in good condition. It is packed with illustrations and photos.

War Magazine This is a December 1st 1939 dated edition of \'War\' magazine. This is a packed edition, with rare photos of BEF troops, on patrol, on \'The Maginot\' line. Many of articles have examples of the worst kinds of journalism, with drowning nuns, included in the illustrations ! The photo format however, is very impressive for the period. The magazine is in very good condition and a packed edition.

Wartime Newspapers Grouping This is a large group of wartime and 1950\'s newspapers that all surfaced together. There are 2 \'Union Jack\' wartime Army newspapers and an interesting 1940 Home Front paper. Obviously, the condition of the papers do vary, but they are priced accordingly. Wehrmacht Cavalry Unit Photo This is a 1941 dated, Third Reich period example. It show a cavalry unit, on a rest break. The soldier is pictured having a smoke, with his horse behind him. The photo measures 9 by 6 cm and in annotated on the reverse, as clearly shown.
Wehrmacht Engineer\'s Railway Bridge Photo Set This is a small set of 6, wartime period photos. They were taken somewhere on The Eastern Front, by a Wehrmacht Engineer. The photos show a destroyed, Soviet, Railway bridge. The engineer carefully, took photos, of each stage of the bridge\'s reconstruction. He clearly took the final photo, of a German train on the bridge, at a later stage. 5 of the photos, measure 9 by 6.3 cm and the final photo is smaller. Towards the end of the sequence, all of the Wehrmacht engineers are seen, standing proudly on the bridge, in full combat kit, ready for their next job.

The book gives a compelling account of his service, as an officer in the 1st Parachute Brigade and served in Tunisia, Sicily and Italy The book retains the majority of it\'s original dust jacket, as shown. It is an honest and engaging read, ending with Stainforth\'s capture at Arnhem.

The News paper, ran these household insurance policies and reflect the feeling of nation insecurity, caused by the German Zeppelin raids over Britain. In addition, it covered households, for damage also caused by friendly fire. The insurance policy receipt, measures 32 by 13 cm. It is an uncommon First World War , Home Front item to encounter.

\'They Sought out Rommel\' This is a 1942 dated, softback publication, produced by The Army at war. It gives a brief account of the first phase of The Desert War, between February to December 1941. The book is small format size and in good condition. It is seldom encountered and an engaging read.
