'Blues' Comrades Association R.H.G. Brooch A beautiful blue and red enamelled pin back brooch which is marked BLUES COMRADES ASSOCIATION. In the gilt centre of the badge are the entwined initials RHG. Impressed Phillips Aldershot on reverse. A lovely badge but a mystery to me except that the Blues & Royals according to John Gaylor's reference book are associated with the Royal Horse Guards Ist Dragoons??. When I have time I will try to research the badge further but for all that it is a beautiful item. PS. One of my boys was an Officer in the R.H.A. & had several connections with the Blues & Royals too - dinners, events etc. I will ask him if he knows anything about the brooch when I next speak to him.

1915 Unusual 'Flags' Brooch Depicting French & Italian Patriotic Flags In good original condition, this patriotic brooch showing crossed flags is I believe depicting a French/Italian Alliance when Italy came into World War One on the side of the French/British/Russian Entente in April 1915. Gilt framed and pin fittings intact it measures 37mms x 28mms.

A Gilt & Enamel Civil Defence Corps Brooch An earlier brooch in gilt and enamel with pin fittings to The Civil Defence Corps. Impressed with makers name 'Firmin' London on the reverse, the brooch is in immaculate condition. The Civil Defence Corps (CDC) was a civilian volunteer organisation established in Great Britain in 1949 to mobilise and take local control of the affected area in the aftermath of a major national emergency, principally envisaged as being a Cold War nuclear attack.
A Post WW1 Royal Tank Corps Silver, Enamel & Marquisite Sweetheart Brooch This sweetheart probably dates from pre.1924 when the Royal Tank Corps changed their badges so that the tank was pointing to the front. It is most attractive with good enameling and encircled with marquisites. No damage to the enamel but 2 marquisites missing (easily replaced) impressed silver on the reverse and with original pin fitting.
A pre:WW1 Duke of Cornwall's Own Rifles 43rd Regiment Gilt Sweetheart Brooch. This gilt brooch Circa 1907 is in first rate condition. It was purchased in Winnipeg from an established dealer when we visited Canada some 25 year ago. The regiment has a fascinating history with a very very brief outline below. During the South African War the 43rd Battalion underwent significant structural and name changes. In May 1900 the unit’s title was changed to the 43rd Regiment “Ottawa and Carleton Rifles” to reflect its impending structural increase from a battalion to a regiment of eight rifle companies totalling more than 350 officers and men. One year later, during the visit to Canada of the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall in 1901, the 43rd Regiment made such an impression on the Duke that he agreed to become the regiment’s first honorary colonel (he continued to hold this appointment after being crowned King George V) and to allow it to use his name in the regimental title. As a result, in March 1902 the regiment was renamed the 43rd Regiment, Duke of Cornwall’s Own Rifles.
A Royal Defence Corps Badge in Gilt & Enamel. The Royal Defence Corps was a corps of the British Army formed in March 1916 and disbanded in 1936. The badge is in good condition with an 'old' replacement pin. It measures 3.5 cm high x 3 cm wide. MEASURES 3.5 CM IN HEIGHT BY 3 CM WIDTH NICE FLEUR DE LYS DETAIL IN CROWN THIS IS AN ANTIQUE PIECE AND WILL BE SENT IN ORIGINAL CONDITION SO WILL NEED TO BE CLEANED.
A Royal West African Frontier Force Silver & Enamel Sweetheart Brooch Issued post 1928, this rare sweetheart brooch to the Royal West African Frontier Force is in excellent original condition. Impressed 'silver' on the bar, the brooch measures just about 4cms x 2cms. The enamel is intact as is the pin fitting.
A Superb Royal Air Force "Air Gunner" Half Brevet in Silver, Enamel & Paste Diamonds Sweetheart Brooch This R.A.F. Air Gunner's Half Brevet sweetheart brooch is very scarce item. The Air Gunners brevet was one of the first to be introduced in 1939 the badges having fallen from use in the thirties. Made from silver, emerald green translucent enamel and set with 26 sparkling 'paste diamonds' the brooch is in immaculate condition. The original pin fittings & safety clasp are intact & the brooch is impressed 'STERLING SILVER' and 'Made In England' on the reverse. It measures approximately 45mms wide.
A WW1 Gilt Button Bar sweetheart brooch to The 3rd Birmingham Battalion R Warwickshire Part of Kitchener's Army the 3rd (Reserve) Birmingham Battalion, Royal Warwickshire, was in service from 1914. I understand that the most distant journey the Battalion made was to The Isle of Wight, spending most of the war in Warwickshire. However, they did their duty and this attractive bar button brooch was a good little sweetheart to be sent to a loved one. It is in very good condition with original pin fittings intact. Impressed Gaunt, London on the reverse and the button is approx 2cm in diameter.

The early number makes me think this might be a World War Two brooch. It is in excellent original condition and is 44mms x 20mms.

Brass and enamel with original pin fitting the brooch measures just about 3cms x 3cms Raised in 1915 with a strength of 36 officers and 1061 other ranks, this battalion was disbanded in 1920.

Canadian 48th Highlanders Gilt & Enamel Badge This modern badge to the 48th Highlanders of Canada has the regiment's motto "DILEAS GU BRATH" which is Gaelic for "Faithful Forever" encircling the eagle's head and 48 Highlanders. It is in excellent condition. The 48th Highlanders of Canada is a Canadian Forces Primary Reserve (i.e., part-time militia) infantry regiment based in Toronto, parading out of Moss Park Armoury. The regiment is part of 4th Canadian Division's 32 Canadian Brigade Group.

Framed Silk Flag Embroidery The East Lancashire Regiment This magnificent silk embroidery celebrates the amalgamation of the East Lancashire Regiment with the Cambridgeshire Regiment. On 1 July 1881, the 30th (Cambridgeshire) Regiment amalgamated with the 59th (2nd Nottinghamshire) Regiment to form The East Lancashire Regiment. The embroidery has not been exposed to sunlight and is in excellent condition. Hand stitched, the colours are bright and true with just a very small amount of slight discolouration on the background silk at the base. The beading and fringing is immaculate with outstanding detail throughout. The whole work is of museum quality and I would doubt if another piece such as this would be found. The frame is dark mahogany colour with a gold slip and it measures 68cms x 70cms

The actual badge is under a perspex silver rimmed circle, which is set on to a silver square. This in turn is suspended from an 'Art Deco' style engine turned silver decorative bar. There is a silver safety chain attached and the brooch is in excellent original condition. Both parts are impressed silver on the reverse. Pre WW1 Queen's Own West Kent Regiment Hollow Silver Horseshoe Sweetheart Brooch This First World War hollow silver sweetheart brooch to The Queen's Own West Kent Regiment is hallmarked Birmingham 1907. It bears the maker's mark MB on the reverse and is a relatively scarce brooch. It has an old replacement pin fitting but otherwise is in excellent condition. Horseshoes were fashionable forms of 'sweethearts' towards the end of the 19th Century with the horseshoe pointing downwards. During the Second World War most horseshoe brooches were inverted as it was thought that luck ran out with downward ones. Approx 30mm x 27mm

Within the enameled laurel wreath the 'B' is a beautiful pale turquoise translucent enamel, the wreath enamel being a cinnamon colour. Royal Air Force Signaller's Brevet Wing Silver & Enamel Sweetheart Brooch. A scarce original post 1941 R.A.F. Signaller's brevet sweetheart brooch. The S has a lovely pale turquoise translucent enamel and it is set within a laurel wreath which has a cinnamon coloured enamel. It is in very good condition apart from a tiny smudge on the S. The brooch is impressed sterling silver on the reverse and the original pin fittings are intact.

Royal Army Service Corps Ceramic on Gilt Sweetheart Brooch Badge Pin A very unusual and hard to find ceramic on gilt sweetheart brooch to The Royal Army Service Corps. In 1918 the Royal title was granted to the ASC and the new badge appeared in which the Royal Cipher GRV replaced the monogram followed by a sequence of ciphers. I am sure this is an early brooch. It is in superb condition with original pin fittings intact. A must for any sweetheart brooch collection.

The Royal Melbourne Regiment 6th Battalion Brass & Enamel Sweetheart Brooch This scarce and highly desirable badge to the 6th Battalion The Royal Melbourne Infantry Regiment is in excellent condition with no enamel damage. The 6th Battalion was an infantry battalion of the Australian Army. Originally formed in 1914 for service during the First World War, the battalion fought at Gallipoli and on the Western Front. It was disbanded in 1919 but was re-raised in 1921 as part of the Citizens Force, and adopted the title of "Royal Melbourne Regiment" in 1935. The battalion did not serve overseas during the Second World War and was eventually disbanded in 1944. A rare opportunity to own this superb brooch.

An attractive brooch it is gilt & enamel with a red rose surmounted by The Royal Crest & flanked by an additional "R" "A" & blue enamelled title scroll below. A scarce original early 20th century political membership badge for the 'Women's Association Union & Tariff Reform'. This is a most attractive badge in excellent condition. It has the maker's details on the reverse together with RD NO 454899 which I gather is a Patent number which was registered in 1905. The maker's detail is 'Wilks, 50 Augusta St, B'ham." Interesting badge with an interesting history.

World War 1 South Africa Heavy Artillery Silver & Enamel Sweetheart Brooch This World War One sweetheart brooch to the South Africa Heavy Artillery is marked sterling on the reverse together with the maker's mark which I believe is TLM. The enamel is excellent, one of the springbok horns appears slightly bent. The Heavy Artillery was formed in 1915 and fought in the trenches.

Hallmarked Birmingham with the makers mark RC on the reverse, the brooch is approx. 3cms x 2.5cms. In very good original condition. The Dragoons originated in Edmonton, Alberta on 1 February 1908, when the 19th The Alberta Mounted Rifles were authorized to be formed and was re-designated as the 19th Alberta Dragoons on 3 January 1911. The squadron fought in France from 1915 until the end of the war and were subject to some of the first mustard gas attacks.

WW1 C.E.F. 61st Overseas Battalion Sweetheart Brooch Brass & Enamel In extremely good, original condition with no enamel loss, this sweetheart brooch dating from World War One is to the 61st Infantry Battalion - Canadian Expeditionary Force. Raised in Winnipeg in 1915, the Battalion sailed from Canada in 1916 under the command of Lt.Col. F.J. Murray with a compliment of 37 officers and 1091 other ranks. In England it was absorbed into the 11th Reserve Battalion and was disbanded (as were most CEF Battalions) on September 15th, 1920.

WW2 Canadian General Service Badge - Silver This listing is for a small Sterling silver General Service badge, issued starting in 1940 to members of the Canadian Armed Services who had served at least three months on active World War II duty ”beyond Canada and Overseas” and were subsequently honorably discharged for a physical disability. This brooch measures 1.5cm wide by 2.2cm high, and is made of Sterling silver with what appears to be black paint accenting the recessed areas of the embossed design. The design is a crowned shield with three maple leaves joined on one stem above a banner bearing the embossed words “GENERAL SERVICE”. It has a pin fitting. This little item packs a big "PUNCH"...on the reverse is the warning that misuse of the brooch brings a penalty of a $500 fine or imprisonment!!! It also has the number 445762 impressed on the reverse.

WW2 Very Unusual Lead R.C.A.F. Pendant Sweetheart Brooch This World War Two little sweetheart brooch to The Royal Canadian Air Force is, I am pretty sure, made of lead. The materials used for sweethearts and the quality of the brooches varied hugely from very simply and crudely made pieces through to exquisite gold and enamel items made by some of the finest jewellers of the day. This however is the only one I have seen made from lead. It has a red/white/blue roundel attached to a very simple RCAF wings brooch and appears to be in original condition with an intact pin fitting. Quite an interesting & rare find for a Canadian sweetheart collector. wings 30mms across roundel 17mms diameter.

WWI Rare R.N.A.S. Brass, Gilt & Enamel Sweetheart Brooch Pin This spectacular looking 1st World War sweetheart brooch was probably sent to a rather flamboyant recipient! The brass and enamel badge is set on a large gilt decorative backing. Measuring about 4.5 centimeters width & height the backing brooch is decorated with roses and leaves. The enamel is good and the original pin fixings are intact. A fabulous brooch for a R.N.A.S. collector.
